Growing in NYC

15 August, 2013

It's absolutely gorgeous out here in NYC today. When I moved here, I never imagined that I would have to plan my outdoor activities before the weather started to cool down. As these last days of summer fade out in NYC, I'm attempting to find quiet, and yet, explore all that the BIG APPLE has to offer. I've been making it a point to spend my free time out making this place fit to my own likings. That's what moving away from home is right? Exploring and challenging yourself enough to get uncomfortable and learn how to be resilient. People talk about the things that happen in a New York minute and it’s so true. Most days I feel like I have lived a week. It can be exciting to see what I’ve overcome in a day, but this past weekend was the first time that I felt like the floor was speeding up and starting to slip out from under me. I think my greatest moment of growth is now, more than ever. I do crave moments of stillness, and I am learning by experience that those don’t come in the city that never sleeps unless you earnestly seek them out.
